Image
Spotify It’s back to basics again with this one with me sitting in my bedroom recording with my cheap guitars and one microphone making it a very intimate and close affair. Songs Please Whiskey Autumn Leaves I'll See You Soon Julia

Please

Image
Themes Please  is a breakup ballad about a hateful split up or Divorce. The narrative shows that  she  is scared of the future, while the L yrical I  reflects that their “mission is love”. The  Lyrical I  shows anxieties about letting down their family. The message of the song is that giving oneself the blame for a failed marriage or relationship is not the way to get over the breakup. The narrative is underlined by the dialogue which is noticeable when listening closely and reading the lyrics at the same time. She  is begging for the  Lyrical I  to reconsider their choices. Their fear is shown when they do not understand why their knees are shaking. The  Lyrical I  saw love as a mission rather which he failed. This militarises and dehumanizes the concept of love. The reasons for the breakup are twofold. They are shown in the chorus as the  Lyrical I  feels stuck in the relationship and at the same time they realise...

Whiskey

Image
Themes Whiskey  warns of alcohol addiction and drug abuse while reflecting the fear of consumerism. It reflects how addiction develops and that it spirals. A devil’s circle creates the need for the consumer to feel used to high levels of consumption. The chorus implies that “you and me” is whiskey and the  Lyrical I.  The song starts of with the chorus to show straight away the consequences of drug abuse and to make the listener understand the situation from the start. The first vers shows that the  Lyrical I  chooses to make these choices. The  Lyrical I  would rather look down an empty glass – “depth” -  rather than face their fears and distance themselves from consumption. It also shows that the  Lyrical I  feels strengthened by alcohol consumption and that it eases bad thoughts in the mind. The repetition of “my mind” implies that the  Lyrical I  is struggling mentally due to alcohol consumption. It lies by stat...

Autumn Leaves

Image
Themes In  Autumn leaves  the use of seasons shows the narrative development and a change throughout time. The meaning of the title is twofold. On the one hand it means that autumn goes away or passes by. On the other hand, it calls out to the leaves of autumn which fall to the ground. The song is about falling down and picking oneself up again. It’s a coming-of-age song where the   Lyrical I   feels lost and does not know how to go on nor what to do next. They fear the future and feel lost in the present. This is underlined when the   Lyrical I   calls out for their   mother   asking for help. The meaning   mother   is twofold again. On the one hand it represents the actual birthmother and on the other hand it represents nature. Thus the   Lyrical I   is also calling out to nature to show them the way. In the end of the second vers the   Lyrical I   admits that they feel lost but they can see and reflect on th...

I'll See You Soon

Image
Themes I’ll See You Soon  reflects on the good old days when a couple was happy and close by. It represents the difficulties of a long distance relationship.  The   Lyrical I   promises to visit their loved one and shows that they are thinking about them a lot.  This song focuses more on the instruments rather than the lyrics. Lyrics Now that you have to go I just wanna let you know That the best days were when it was just us two   I know … I know you’re struggling too I’ll miss you as I’m looking to the moon I’ll see you soon   I hope you don’t forget me but have a nice time And know I’ll think of you and you’ll be mine But most of all: the best days I’ve had they were with you Now I’m 500 miles away. Soon I’ll step on a train to visit you I think of you every day, every step of my way and I can’t wait To see you soon Those were the days between us two   I know … I know you’re struggling … I know you’re struggling too I’ll miss you as I’m ...

Julia

Image
Themes Julia  shows war and suffering. The bombings happen after  Julia  had planned and started a revolt which ended in her dying. As a consequence the oppressor chooses to bomb the village to punish those who were close to her.  Father Graham  represents the grief of the town who all miss Julia and understand why she tried to fight. The name   Julia   is the feminine version of Julius which derives from the God Jupiter. The God Jupiter stood for protection and laws. In the song this is   Julia   stands for the laws and protection broken by the attack. Father Graham  is  conscientious and careful and reflects about life.  Thomso n  implies confidence and optimism. This has been obliterated.  The old church yard  represents that those bombs have already fallen on graves. This shows a certain inevitability about the bombings.  The marching band  represents the close bond within the community. The ...

The Whole World Is White - Single

Image
Spotify The song is about young love, resilience, and the desire to be together despite obstacles. The lyrics depict a romantic journey—both literal and emotional. The phrase "The whole world is white"  symbolizes a fresh start and innocence. The song conveys a sense of devotion, youthful optimism, and the idea that love can be both a battle and a beautiful escape. Lyrics I was never meant to drive to London Am I worthy can I hold ya This was a big love for one another, This war was love and it was for each other Please wait up for me in the morning I even found you a new love Packin' and unpackin' your bags Now your father's mad I’ve gone and run into trouble The Whole world is white yeah Just keep treading water We’re alright girl Now that we’re together The Whole world is white yeah Just keep treading water We’re alright girl Now that we’re together The way I feel on your sweet shoulder Like a silver moon that can’t be replaced...
